Auditions are generally held twice a year, in May and in August. Potential MPYO musicians can audition by appointment throughout the year by contacting MPYO Manager, Jane Libbing.
Next auditions are by appointment (email Jane Libbing)
For all MPYO Ensembles
Students should prepare a major and minor scale representative of their ability, in addition to a piece of their choice no longer than two minutes in length. The audition will conclude with appropriate level sight reading as selected by the conductor.
Private lessons are recommended, as this greatly benefits the student's musical development.
Auditions are required for both new students and once a year for all returning students.

Participation in School Music Programs
MPYO strongly encourages all students to participate in their own school music program and ensembles. Being a member of MPYO is not intended to replace school programs but rather enhance and augment a young musician’s music education by providing additional performance opportunities of challenging repertoire with professional conductors and instructors.
The 2017-2018 tuition rates:
$250/year Strings, Sinfonia, Flute Choir and Wind Ensemble
$300/year Michigan Philharmonic Youth Orchestra
$100/year for a 2nd ensemble
$500 per family
Financial aid is available to students on a limited basis. Tuition subject to change.
Tuition is due on or before the first rehearsal in September unless other arrangements have been made. For those requiring financial assistance, contact Jane Libbing.
